ASTYM is a great, non-invasive procedure for alleviating pain in those suffering from Carpal Tunnel, Tennis Elbow, Golfer's Elbow, Wrist sprains, Shoulder pain, Achilles tendinitis, low back pain, and hip pain, just to name a few.ASTYM therapy is a three step process. Your therapist will use a special instrument to isolate the damaged tissue and then proceed to distribute pressure along the area in a manner similar to that of a massage. The damaged tissue responds to this by beginning to heal itself. This process is called "fibroblast recruitment and activation". As a final step, you will be instructed on custom exercise regimens which strengthen and recondition the area, making the tissue and muscles stronger and more functional. Kinesiotaping is a way to prolong the effects of manual therapy using a flexible tape. Read more about Kinesiotaping.
